Happy Halloween! Remember how fun it was "once upon a time" to get all dressed up as some character, ring doorbells and sing "Trick or Treat"?
I always loved dressing up, getting bags of candy, smiles from the neighbors and just having a good time.
Where is that little kid now? Does she or he still get to have time to come out and play? Or, is there too much to do and no time for much fun anymore?
Unfortunately, that is what I hear so often from my clients. "Too much to do and no time for play".
So have you been "tricking" yourself into believing it all has to be serious and only lots of hard work?
It's true, there is a lot to do on a daily basis, and you can bet the "practical" part of you is very intent on making sure you do what needs to get done, doesn't it? But, the essence of your little child still resides within you and if you don't allow him or her to get out and play, it can cause some serious unhappiness that can manifest as emotional and physical issues. And, besides, it does the soul good to play and feel good. Life seems to flow easier when you feel good, wouldn't you agree?
Wouldn't you like to give yourself a treat and have some fun?
It's about living a balanced life. It's about laughing, playing, having fun, as well as about doing things, producing results and feeling a great sense of accomplishment.
So, this weekend, why not use your "practical" one and plan some time to just have fun! Dress up and greet those trick or treat-ers with a playful you!
Invite the neighbors over for a spontaneous Halloween evening...find something, that will put fun in your life and a song in your heart! Your body, mind and spirit will thrive on the treat you are choosing to give yourself!
Treat yourself to fun, that's the trick to a balanced life!
I can certainly relate to needing a balanced life. I've been working intensely on a writing project and haven't had much play time in the last few weeks. I can feel my "little girl essence" needs some playtime! So, I plan on taking some time on Sunday evening to greet my trick or treat-ers donning my favorite costume and completely enjoying the experience of them and me all dressed up and having fun!
Now that's a treat!
Keep me posted on how fun is playing in your life and whether you're getting tricked or treated! I'd love to hear.

The Power of Listening
The subconscious hears....
I recently shared a story on my Facebook business page about a client who called for smoking cessation. It's such a great story, I want to share it with you, too.
We talked for about 20-25 minutes, during which time I found out about him by listening to him and listening about his desire to be a non smoker. I gave him a lot of information about how hypnotherapy can support him in being a non smoker, how our thoughts work with our conscious and unconscious mind, how focusing in on the goal, instead of the absence of the goal is so important...and more.
He set up a session for the following week. I received a call from him the next day wanting to get in right away, if possible, because, he said, he hadn't smoked a cigarette since we talked and he didn't know why, but he had no desire to smoke and just wanted to get it all "cemented in" right away.
Well, he came in the next day and I didn't have much to do, really. He was a fully committed non smoker already, but wanted to "test" and make sure, so we did some work in a formal hypnosis session and then he was set.
Got an email from him a couple of days later saying how great he still was and how happy he felt being a non smoker now.
I love this story, because it shows how powerful our subconscious mind is.
It is listening. It doesn't analyze....that's the job of the conscious mind, but it took in what his conscious mind was saying "made sense". And, it didn't question it, it just went to work fulfilling on what he "program" he had installed: the new programming of being a non smoker!
This is potent! It should remind us to be vigilant in keeping our thoughts in alignment with our goals. And, it's not about feeling bad when those thoughts go astray into some dark alley, but simply and consciously, bring them back and point them in the direction you want to go.
Your subconscious is listening and will seek out that which it is imprinted with.
Imprint well and remember: have fun doing it while you watch how your life can be so much easier when you play this game of focusing in on what it is you want.
Thank you, as always, for taking your valuable time in reading this e-news.
I welcome your feedback and I wish you a balanced life!
